General objective of the Decade
- The Togolese initiative, called “Cadre de Lomé”, has the general objective of setting up platforms for the preparation, promotion and support of projects, initiatives and events related to African roots and diasporas during the 2021-2031 decade.

Through the various projects and programs, it is a question of participating in the reinforcement of the contributions of the African diasporas and ancestors to the sustainable development of the African continent.

At the strategic level, this initiative driven by Togo will provide the African Union Commission, in collaboration with States and organizations representing the African Diaspora, with the opportunity to implement a solid plan of global actions that will allow for the return and greater and more active involvement of the African Diaspora and Afro-descendants from the Caribbean, the Pacific and the Americas, in the development process of the continent.
Specific objectives of the Decade

Promote a “2021-2031 Agenda of African Roots and Diasporas” by proposing a periodic program presenting the events by country and the flagship operations of the decade of African roots and diasporas;

To offer an international showcase to the projects carried out by the different countries;

Highlighting the achievements of members of the African diaspora and communities of African descent;

To support all initiatives aimed at fighting against discrimination and mistreatment of people of African descent in the diaspora and to defend their interests;

Establish mechanisms and channels of exchange to facilitate the return of brothers of African descent from the Caribbean and the Americas;

Coordinate the mobility of people and co-development strategies for the integration of populations of African descent and for the accession of our continent to the emergence;
